Welcome to Thunder Bay Irish;

In this site and gatherings we
are non-political and non-sectarian, and our main objectives are the promotion of Irish / Irish-Canadian culture and heritage, and the strengthening and support of the Irish / Irish-Canadian community in the Thunder Bay region
, and for those interested in things IRISH

Here you will find pages dedicated to the Irish Culture, Arts, Music, Language (Gaeilge), and so on.

Thunder Bay, proud of its diversity, has cultural "clubs" with events, meetings, schooling, throughout the year especially at the Folklore Festival held once a year by the Multi Cultural Association represented by many wonderful nationalities such as: Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese, Finnish, French/French Canadian, Aboriginal, and so on.  There is dancing, music, food, and so on at this event, usually held in the spring around May, but alas,
really nothing in the way of a strong Irish presence.

There is a large contingency of Irish/Irish Canadian heritage folks in Thunder Bay and through this web site it is our hope we can start gathering at events and such to share our love of our Irish heritage.  So if you looking to play Irish music, have a "traditional" instrument (Guitar, Whistle, F;ute, Concertina/Accordion, and so on), into the Irish dancing, language, arts, drop us a line by using our CONTACT US link.

The Irish are known to be real friendly people, so come and join us, even if it is only on St. Patrick's (Paddy's) Day (March 17th).  Who knows, maybe there is a little Irish blood in 'ya afterall.

Mar tú sleamhnán síos an banisters den saol
ní fhéadfaidh an pointe splinters an bealach mícheart.

(Translation: As you slide down the banisters of life
neither the splinters point the wrong way.)

Some of us have a bit of a strange humor too!
